Windy Days!

Objectives:

·         To define wind.
·         To explore the effects of wind.

Let’s Do This First:

What is wind?

Wind is air that moves.  Some winds move slowly.  Some winds move quickly.  Look at the picture below.

How do you know the wind is blowing by looking at the picture?
How do you know the wind is moving quickly in the picture?

What kind of fun things can you do on windy days?

You can ride in a sail boat.

What helps the sail boats to move across the water?

You can fly a kite.

What keeps the kite in the air?

What does a windmill do?

A windmill uses wind to pump underground water to the Earth's surface.  Look at the picture of a windmill.

What I Can Do:

1.  Look at the current wind speed in your area.
