[QUESTION]

How do we determine if the sensor suite is the source of any unusual data?

[ANSWER] The Outdoor Temperature, relative humidity, Light intensity, wind and rain sensors together form the instruments that are referred to as `Outdoor’. Generally speaking, problems may arise in any one of these instruments but rarely all of them simultaneously. The only exception to this is in the case of a lightning strike close enough to the sensors to cause a catastrophic failure.

Examples of outdoor sensor trouble indicators are:

Temperature: Readings of -45 or 150+ degrees

Relative Humidity: Unchanging values of 5% or 100% Readings that appear to be erratic

Wind Data: No recorded wind speed and/ no recorded change in wind direction

Precipitation: No increase in daily precipitation amounts.

Remedies for some of these errors may be achieved by school personnel however some will require servicing by qualified technical personnel. Contact AWS Technical Support to discuss solutions to any of these type of problems.
