[QUESTION]

My modem phone line is busy. What do I do?

[ANSWER] Reset the modem by turning it off for 30 seconds and then turning it back on. The modem should have four red lights turned on above the labels of HS (high speed) , AA (auto-answer) , TR (terminal ready) , and MR (modem ready). Using a phone on another line, dial your station access number. If the modem answers, you will hear a high pitched tone.

If the line is still busy, trying hooking a telephone up to wall jack the modem is connected to. See if you can get this phone to ring by calling the station access number from another line. If the phone rings, your modem is damaged and needs to be replaced with a new AWS Modem (you must order the replacement modem from AWS).

If the line is still busy, there are problems with the phone line. You should then contact your local telephone company or internal phone systems technician.
