Press ReleasesPress > March 17, 2006 Release Willow Hill School Joins CBS 4 Boston School Weather Net Sudbury, MA – March 17, 2006 – Willow Hill School today announced it has it has joined the CBS 4 Boston School Weather Net program. Willow Hill School is in the process of installing a new WeatherBug Tracking Station that will provide live, neighborhood level weather conditions to CBS 4 Boston meteorologists and the local community. The school will also use the WeatherBug Tracking Station to enhance curriculum under an innovative program called WeatherBug Achieve co-developed by CBS 4 Boston and AWS Convergence Technologies, Inc. Dr. Rhonda Taft-Farrell, Head of School at Willow Hill School, remarked, “This new program will strengthen our students’ learning experience across several different subject areas and give them a great sense pride in their school because we are providing a key service to the community. We are proud to be a part of this innovative program.” The Willow Hill School WeatherBug program was made possible through an exclusive partnership with CBS 4 Boston School Weather Net, which is committed to providing an engaging teaching tool for schools, while giving local residents the most local, real-time weather information available. Willow Hill School is a special education day school serving 59 students in grades 6 - 12. Students come to the School from more than 35 cities and towns throughout eastern Massachusetts. The school provides a supportive and individualized educational program for middle and high school students who are capable of advancing along a strong academic curriculum, but have experienced frustration in earlier school settings. WeatherBug Achieve is an award-winning, interactive, learning program that seamlessly integrates real-time local and national weather data and camera images into a range of science, math, technology and geography lessons for elementary, middle and high school students. WeatherBug Achieve brings live conditions into the classroom with a tool that is fun and easy for teachers and students, at all levels. The data is unique, as it is relative to the school and features current, local weather conditions right in their neighborhood and across the country. Under this innovative, hands-on program, student interest levels and scores consistently rise along with student and teacher morale.
