WeatherBug® Widget for Mac OS X Dashboard Now Features Live Camera Views, International Weather and Web Search Functionality

“Graduates” From WeatherBug Labs To Product Development After Favorable Response From Mac Market

Washington DC & Germantown, MD – May 5, 2006 – WeatherBug®, the leading provider of live, local weather information services, today announced that the WeatherBug Widget for Mac OS X (10.4 and higher) Dashboard has enhanced its live, neighborhood level weather reporting. The new features include: live camera views from more than 1,000 WeatherBug Cameras across the U.S., international weather reports and web search functionality.

WeatherBug Widget for Mac continues to place detailed forecasts, radar, news and severe weather alerts from WeatherBug’s proprietary network right on the Mac Dashboard. Widgets are mini-applications that let users perform common tasks and provide fast access to information. With a single click, widgets appear or disappear quickly and easily.

Launched in early February, the WeatherBug Widget for Mac OS X Dashboard quickly became the #2 download at the Apple.com Dashboard Widget Site and is still in the top ten at the time of this announcement. Nearly 700,000 Mac users have downloaded the application and responded with favorable feedback. The Mac media gave the WeatherBug Widget rave reviews. Subsequently, WeatherBug graduated the product from WeatherBug Labs, adding it to the WeatherBug product family.

The WeatherBug Widget for Mac is the most recent Labs initiative to be integrated into WeatherBug’s product portfolio. Other recent Labs graduates include WeatherBug RSS and WeatherBug Mac.

Located at labs.weatherbug.com, WeatherBug Labs launched November 1, 2005 as a public forum for WeatherBug product development and ingenuity between WeatherBug employees and WeatherBug users. Here, WeatherBug engineers, researchers and other employees showcase their “innovative side” to solicit feedback and collaboration from consumers and the developer community. The online forum enables participants to discuss and explore ideas that can leverage the proprietary network of 8,000 WeatherBug Tracking Stations, which stream live, neighborhood-level weather.

User-submitted ideas, comments, suggestions and innovations are sent to labsproducts@weatherbug.com. Feedback on these prototypes is a crucial and valuable step of the development process.
