The AWS data logger controls the collection, storage and dissemination of all data collected from the sensor suite. The data logger is a microprocessor controlled system with an on-board real time clock, analog-to-digital conversion and non-volatile memory sufficient to store up to 4 months of hourly data from all standard AWS sensors (temperatures (3), relative humidity, wind speed and direction, precipitation, barometric pressure and light intensity).

The AWS data logger is a powerful communications hub. It disseminates real time, up-to-the-second weather data to three (3) communications ports simultaneously. In most standard configurations the data logger disseminates real time data to the digital display, local PC or Macintosh computer, and a modem for remote access. The data logger is also compatible with multiple communications technologies, including serial (RS-232 and/or RS-485), standard modem, cellular modem, radio (VHF, UHF), and Internet based networks.

The AWS data logger was designed to operate within networks of weather stations where access to accurate, real time data is essential. On-board battery backup and surge suppression are standard and each ensures data availability when it matters the most; during severe weather and power outages.

The AWS data logger can be remotely monitored and calibrated through the serial interfaces, greatly enhancing its flexibility. Additionally the data logger can be configured for indoor environments in a sheet metal chassis or outdoor environments in a weather tight NEMA enclosure.
